John Melillo is an Oil Contemporary Realist/Abstract Realism Painter on all surfaces. He grew up on the East End of LI. He is also a disabled Vietnam Veteran who uses painting as a Solace and Healing Mechanism. Much of his art is inspired by his East End Heritage. Getting to the know the East End circa 1950 on served as a great tool of knowledge and great playground for John’s admiration for the water and fishing. His Art is geared to DETAIL and STORY TELLING. This realistic presentation, though definitive, enables the viewer to create their own narrative. He paints two topics, his East End Heritage and “Life Goes On” Series, where he paints the Lighter Side of Vietnam from his original photo’s he took on Tour in Vietnam.

Today, he uses his art to inspire and support others navigating their own healing from PTSD through Art Exhibition, talks, and has taught Art classes. He has been featured in many TV appearances such as CBS on Veteran’s Day, Newsday TV and News 12 as well as covers of Dans Papers. You can see John’s work in Starbucks all around the Hamptons.
